Glossary
The app uses one word for each idea. This is what they mean.
- Dry-run
- Simulated: live prices, fake fills, no orders sent and nothing at stake. Every new bot starts here.
- Live
- Real orders with real USDC on Papertrade, despite the name. Papertrade is a real exchange, not paper money. Used only for that, and always shown in red.
- Round
- One entry and its exit.
- bps
- Basis points: 0.01% of price. 20 bps is 0.2%.
- Market condition
- A kind of hour (trending, quiet and so on) picked from your own recorded tape.
- Time frame
- A stretch of recorded tape.
- Available data
- What has been recorded for a coin: how much, from when to when, how fresh, and where the gaps are.
- Gap
- A stretch with no tape, for example while recording was stopped. Frames skip over it.
- Warm-up
- The first minute of every unbroken stretch of tape. The strategy builds its volume baseline there and does not trade.
- Tradeable time
- Covered time minus warm-up. This is what a result can actually be based on.
- Selection meter
- The line and bar under the frames list: how much of the available data is picked, what that allows and what the next level needs.
- Reliability
- How much evidence is behind a result: noise, anecdotal, indicative or usable.
- Cautious profit
- Profit minus its uncertainty. It favours settings that made more rounds over a lucky few.
- Tested on unseen data
- Settings chosen on earlier tape and scored on later tape (walk-forward).
- Fitted on the same data
- The profit a pick made on the data its settings were chosen on. It flatters, so results lead with the net on unseen data instead.
- Stop-out
- A round that ends at its stop loss. The wallet loss budget is shown as a number of them at a bot's size.
- Fill delay
- The time between the decision and the fill.
- Verified P&L
- Profit and loss that Papertrade reports for trades placed through stradefi. Dry-run results never count.
